Gas within the wall of the stomach (emphysematous gastritis) is a rare condition associated with systemic toxicity and
very often mortal end. The etiology includes firstly infections with gas-foaming organisms, other predisposing causes are
the ingestion of corrosive substances, alcohol abuse and immunosuppression. But aplastic anemia hemodialysis even guzzling
excessive amounts of carbonated beverage have being reported. Diagnosis is based on radiological techniques. There
is no definitive treatment for emphysematous gastritis but the conservative approach with broad spectrum antibiotics seems
always to be the first step. In this case, the guilty organism was Salmonella Arizonae.
